Nikkolor systems achieve their intended outcome when specification, preparation and application are treated as one complete process.
Substrate assessment
Before application, confirm that the substrate is sound, stable, clean, appropriately dry and suitable for the proposed finish. Moisture, movement, contamination, hollow areas, weak coatings and incompatible materials must be identified and resolved.
Wet areas
Microcement is a decorative finish and does not replace compliant waterproofing. Waterproofing membranes, puddle flanges, penetrations, junctions, falls and required movement joints must comply with the applicable Australian requirements and project documentation.
Reinforcement and movement
Reinforcement supports the system but cannot eliminate structural or substrate movement. Existing and required movement joints must be assessed and respected. Do not bridge joints where the underlying construction requires ongoing movement accommodation.
Application conditions
Temperature, ventilation, humidity, substrate suction and drying time influence application. Do not force subsequent coats over material that has not reached the required condition.
Sealing and early protection
Protect the completed surface during initial curing. Avoid standing water, harsh chemicals, heavy loading and abrasion until the full protective system has cured in accordance with current product guidance.
